Mezzotints
This page shows a series of mezzotints based on white flowers in my garden. I believe that the mezzotint technique lends itself well to this type of genre and to my style of working.
Mezzotint is a process using scrapers and burnishers to create tones on a plate that has been rocked with a special tool called a mezzotint rocker. The mezzotinted plate is made up of a series of burrs that give a very rich velvety black when printed. This is worked on until the artist achieves the variety and depth of tones that he or she requires.
